BMPA launches the Quality Pork Charter

The BMPA Pork Scheme now has a new name and a new website. The new BMPA Quality Pork Charter brand now better reflects the stringent standards that members have signed up to. And the new website now houses the rules in an easy-to navigate, fully searchable database. These changes represent the most comprehensive upgrade since the scheme began.

While the technical wording and content of the rules hasn’t changed from previous versions (apart from the updates agreed at the last review), the format, numbering and, in some cases, the order of rules has been completely re-worked to make it more logical and intuitive for users to follow. We’ve standardised the numbering system across all modules and added descriptive headings to make navigation and searching easier.

From now onwards the new online database of standards will be the single point of reference for anyone looking for the latest version of the rules. This removes the risk that old or out of date PDF copies of the modules will be accidentally used. We’ve also updated the checklists which are now generic and should be used in conjunction with the online rules, again to ensure that the latest version of the rules is always being followed.

As always happens after a review of the standards, there will be a three month lead-in period before the new standards become live, which will happen on the 20th October 2022. This will give members time to ensure they meet the new requirements.
