We're excited to announce the launch of the new British Meat Processors Association brand, website and Members' Portal.

After over 100 years of service to the industry, this represents the next chapter in the association's evolution, and highlights the key areas of representation and support that BMPA is active in. Since taking the helm in 2017, CEO Nick Allen has guided BMPA through several seismic shocks to the industry, the affects of which are still being felt today. Under his watch, BMPA remains at the heart of the UK meat industry and provides the most diverse forum for Government, regulators, consumers and companies to navigate such challenges.

Technical & Regulatory

The UK meat industry has some of the highest standards of hygiene and welfare in the world. BMPA and its members are committed to raising the bar and maintaining the UK industry’s international reputation for high standards. BMPA provides its members with guidance, technical support and a conduit to regulators.

Workforce

A smoothly running meat and livestock industry requires a steady supply of appropriately skilled workers. BMPA advocates on behalf of its members for an industry-led approach to training new recruits and a more granular, sector-by-sector approach to immigration policy which takes into account the unique recruitment issues our industry faces.

Trade

The ability to trade overseas is key to the viability of the UK meat and livestock industry. Through its connections with overseas counterparts and it's relationships with government departments at home, BMPA acts as a key conduit for information to flow between regulators and industry. With bureaucracy increasing tenfold since Brexit, BMPA guides members through the regulatory complexity and advises government on the practical implications for industry.

Sustainability

Perhaps the biggest challenge facing our industry comes from the role that livestock plays in climate change. The industry is doing a huge amount to mitigate this, and BMPA is working closely with government and other organisations to ensure that the improvements we make are properly factored-in to new legislation.

A message from Nick Allen, CEO of BMPA

”As challenges to the industry change, so BMPA continues to adapt its offering to members by introducing extra services, technical information, and industry intelligence across the key industry segments.

“Our new website and Members' Portal reflects the areas we are now actively supporting members in. It gives us the flexibility to communicate across the big issues and build a useful, searchable knowledge base of information on those key areas.

"We also want to extend the support and representation we provide to our members to the other meat and related businesses that operate under the same rules and standards and are affected by the same political and regulatory changes. Together we're the future of the British meat industry."
