The EU Deforestation Regulation (EUDR) has been subject to a new delay, with the European Parliament voting to postpone full compliance by one year. It’s now set for 30 December 2026 for large operators and 30 June 2027 for micro- and small enterprises and also seeks to simplify due-diligence obligations for some businesses.
Under the revised rules, only the businesses placing deforestation-linked goods on the EU market must file due-diligence statements; downstream traders will be exempt from that duty. While the vote has passed, we understand that there is still the formality of writing it into law which should happen over the next couple of weeks.
