The Government has just published its foot and mouth disease control strategy, the first update in over a decade. This comes ahead of an exercise later this year to test Government preparedness. The updated framework provides information to help farmers protect their business and outlines how government will respond to outbreaks. Defra has also re-iterated its guidance for holiday makers returning from overseas which prohibits them from bringing in meat or dairy products during the current heightened risk associated with FMD outbreaks in Europe.
