BMPA member ABP has published its Year-2 PRISM 2030 report, showing the farmer-led programme now working with 300+ beef and lamb suppliers to baseline farm footprints and help farmers make practical improvements in grazing, soils, water use, animal health and productivity.
The aim of the programme is to provide proof: robust, UK-specific data which will enable retailers, policymakers and consumers to judge British red meat on UK reality, not on often-used global averages. ABP says PRISM complements processor-level gains already made, which has seen 100% renewable electricity, single-use plastic down 60% and water use down 47%.
It comes as nearly half of shoppers say they’ll pay more for sustainable produce so there’s a genuine opportunity if we measure and share results. For a sector often criticised based on global data, PRISM’s evidence base helps show how our temperate, largely grass-based systems can deliver lower impact meat and keep improving year-on-year.
