Hundreds of US meat plant registrations to export to China due to lapse
Despite requests for renewal, hundreds of US pork, poultry and beef producers could see their site registrations to export to china lapse this Monday following dozens that have already lapsed in February. “This ultimately means we could face a complete export restriction,” said Brett Stuart, founding partner of consultancy Global Agritrends.
This disruption comes as trade tensions between the US and China worsen following President Trump's doubling of tariffs on Chinese goods. It also coincides with a picture of oversupply and weakening consumption for China's domestic pork and beef producers.
