The Future of Meat – Panel discussion recording now available

March 20, 2025

Last week BMPA CEO Nick Allen spoke at Food Manufacture’s online event The Future of Meat to discuss the evolving landscape of the red meat, poultry and cultivated meat industry. He was joined by Jason Winstanley, Head of Research and Insight at Pilgrims Europe; Carlotte Luca, Head of Industry at The Good Food Institute and Clodagh Sherrard, Managing Director at insights firm Levercliff.

In his presentation, Nick explored the resilience of red meat despite consumption pressures, and discussed the challenges facing the pork sector and lamb sector. He also addressed one of the biggest challenges currently facing the industry: Securing enough British meat. Government policies are steering farmers away from production, leaving us increasingly reliant on imports—often from countries with lower sustainability and welfare standards. Meanwhile, opportunities for UK exports remain untapped.

If you weren’t able to join live, the session is now available to watch on-demand. Bethan Grylls who hosted the webinar has also done a great write-up of the topics discussed.
