December 18, 2025

Alongside the publication of Minette Batters’ eagerly awaited “Farming Profitability Review 2025” the government has launched a new Farming and Food Partnership Board to give farmers and food businesses a stronger voice at the heart of policy-making. The announcement explains: “The Board will focus on removing barriers to investment, improving how the supply chain works and unlocking growth opportunities across different parts of primary production and processing. It will have a clear emphasis on supporting agricultural productivity, homegrown British produce and strengthening food security.”

The board’s work will feed into a 25-Year Farming Roadmap due next year, aiming to set a long-term vision for the sector and provide clarity on future policy direction. Immediate actions include tackling barriers to investment, prioritising planning for food infrastructure and supporting exports.

Environment Secretary Emma Reynolds will chair the board with Farming Minister Dame Angela Eagle as deputy, bringing together senior leaders from farming, food production, retail, finance and government. As more details emerge on the make up of the board and its priorities, we’ll keep you posted on developments.
