Defra to be subject to an internal review into its regulation and regulators
It's been announced this week that ex head of the No.10 Policy Unit and senior economic advisor to Gordon Brown, Dan Corry will be conducting a review into Defra's internal regulatory landscape. The review will explore whether Defra regulators are equipped to drive economic growth, secure private sector investment and protect the environment
Interestingly for our sector, it will also look at the "customer and stakeholder experience of regulation, including the impact on those who are regulated" plus "the efficiency of regulation, in particular whether the current regulatory landscape involves any duplication and/or contradiction, and whether there are opportunities to make improvements."
You can read more about the review which is part of a wider aim to position Defra as a key economic growth department in their press release.
