From 3 September 2026, new EU antimicrobial certification requirements will apply to certain meat and other Products of Animal Origin exported to the EU, regardless of when the product was produced. UK exporters should check now with their Certifying Official whether affected Export Health Certificates apply to their consignments and ensure they can provide the necessary traceability and origin evidence. Particular care will be needed where products contain ingredients or originate from animals from non-EU third countries. Defra guidance has been issued to Certifying Officials, with updated Notes for Guidance expected in due course. You can read more in our latest update in the Members’ Portal.
