Lack of Government action on EUDR threatens beef exports
We're growing increasingly worried that a lack of engagement by Defra with the European Commission on upcoming deforestation rules could jeopardise over half a billion in beef sales to the EU.
Despite a looming deadline when the new EUDR rules will take effect, Defra has been consistently reluctant to play its part in setting up the necessary system to comply with the regulation. Industry has stepped up and offered a practical, cost-effective solution, but it now requires intervention that only government can provide.
