Lack of Government action on EUDR threatens beef exports

We’re growing increasingly worried that a lack of engagement by Defra with the European Commission on upcoming deforestation rules could jeopardise over half a billion in beef sales to the EU.

Despite a looming deadline when the new EUDR rules will take effect, Defra has been consistently reluctant to play its part in setting up the necessary system to comply with the regulation. Industry has stepped up and offered a practical, cost-effective solution, but it now requires intervention that only government can provide.

In our latest article, we outline what we’re asking of government and why it’s so important for them to act quickly so the UK’s beef trade with its most significant customer (and the wider meat and livestock industry) is not put in jeopardy.
