Defra has confirmed important changes to the way hanging carcasses will be inspected at the Calais Border Control Post from 1 August 2026. While BMPA has raised concerns about the short notice and operational impact of these new requirements, the updated guidance provides members with practical steps to help avoid consignments being refused entry.
The key change is that exporters will now need to ensure a business representative, haulier or appointed agent is available to assist inspectors with presenting consignments for official controls.
